Cowboys & Aliens movie synopsis
The Old West.. where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution.
The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

When I heard of director John Favreau’s, bizarrely titled Cowboys & Aliens, I naturally assumed it would either be a homage to ‘50’s sci-fi B-movies, or a quirky action romp, perhaps a US version of The Good, The Bad, The Weird. Surely a film with such a ridiculous title couldn’t actually take itself seriously?!

Extra-terrestrials have become permanent residents in cinemas, and frankly they have outstayed their welcome. Barely a week goes by without some alien themed feature invading multiplexes. This year aliens have taken on pumped up GIs in Battle L.A, led to half of Mexico being quarantined in Monsters, hung out and exchanged quips with Simon Pegg in Paul, bored audiences to death in Skyline and yet again - stomped all over fond childhood memories of a certain toy in Transformers part blah.
